We are currently recruiting a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (MRT(N)) on behalf of a well-established outpatient cardiology healthcare organization in Kingston, Ontario.
Position Details
- Position: Nuclear Medicine Technologist (MRT(N))
- Job Type: Permanent Full-Time & Part-Time
- Location: Kingston, Ontario
- Work Setting: Outpatient Cardiology
- Schedule: Daytime hours
- Salary: Competitive and based on experience
Key Responsibilities
- Perform nuclear cardiology procedures, including:
- Myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI)
- Stress/rest nuclear studies
- Gated SPECT imaging
- MUGA studies
- Pharmacologic stress testing support
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with physician orders and regulatory requirements.
- Review patient histories, medications, contraindications, and relevant clinical information.
- Prepare and educate patients before procedures.
- Assist with exercise and pharmacologic cardiac stress testing under physician supervision.
- Monitor ECG rhythms, vital signs, symptoms, and patient response during testing.
- Recognize and appropriately respond to adverse reactions and medical emergencies.
- Acquire, process, analyze, and document diagnostic images and data.
- Operate and maintain nuclear medicine cameras, imaging systems, and related equipment.
- Perform routine quality control, equipment calibration, and quality assurance activities.
- Ensure the safe handling, storage, documentation, and disposal of radioactive materials.
- Maintain accurate patient and procedural documentation.
- Follow CMRITO, CNSC, radiation safety, infection prevention, occupational health and safety, and organizational requirements.
- Participate in quality assurance, accreditation, and regulatory inspection activities.
- Collaborate with cardiologists, nurses, technologists, administrative staff, and leadership.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
- Current registration and good standing with CMRITO as an MRT(N).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- CAMRT certification preferred, where applicable.
- Previous experience in nuclear cardiology and cardiac stress testing is considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of radiation safety and quality assurance practices.
- Excellent patient care and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
